Overview

The Department of Natural Resources Management is housed under the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (FEES) at Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST). Our goal is to balance the current needs of people with sustainability and make sure there is availability of resources in the future. The Department of Natural Resources Management is very proud to support students with their diverse backgrounds and experiences. We also teach students and researchers to make wise decisions about our environment. Students will also learn about the ethical, legal and environmental considerations related to the management of natural resources. Natural resources like wildlife, clean water, forests are always in demand, we make management decisions about these resources by applying ecological knowledge and principles.


Learning Outcomes

After the completion of the program, students should have the technical and communication skills that are critical to resolving important natural resource management problems. The skills that shall be acquired include:

  • Initiating natural resources utilization and management enterprises
  • Carrying out environmental advocacy for environmental protection
  • Applying principles and practices for forest and wildlife management.
  • Conducting research in various natural resources aspects
  • Demonstrate managerial skills in sustainable management of land, forest, wildlife and water resources
  • Planning management for natural resources management
  • Monitoring natural resources projects
  • Conducting rural livelihoods assessment
  • Conducting environmental and social impacts assessment
