The Department of Agricultural Mechanisation and Technology is a key academic and research unit within the Faculty of Biosystems Engineering and Technology at Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST). The Department trains engineers, conducts applied research, and drives technology development in support of agricultural mechanisation, agro-industrialisation, rural development and sustainable production systems. Guided by Education 5.0, the Department integrates teaching, research, innovation, industrialisation and community engagement to develop practical engineering solutions that enhance productivity, value addition and technological advancement across Zimbabwe's agricultural sector.
To be a leading centre of excellence in mechanisation, engineering innovation and technology-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture, agro-industrial development and national industrialisation.
To deliver transformative engineering education and research that equips graduates with the technical competence, creative problem-solving ability and professional values to advance agricultural mechanisation and engineering practice in Zimbabwe and the region.
The Department currently offers two programmes:
Agricultural Mechanisation Engineer, Process Engineer, Mechanisation Systems Analyst, Irrigation & Water Resources Engineer, Farm Machinery & Equipment Engineer, Research & Development Engineer, Conservation Engineer, Project Manager.
