Overview

Our department is a dynamic center for exploration, discovery, and creation. As we live and work in this ‘age of rapid digital transformation,’ our department is leading the charge about the education of the future generation of technologists, innovators, and guardians of security for the future that we are building today.



Vision:

To be recognized as a nation-wide Center of Excellence in Agricultural Informatics and Frontier Technologies, producing professionally innovative people who are ethics-driven, as well as leading edge research in tackling real-world agricultural/agro industrial challenges.



Mission:

The purpose of the department is to provide high-quality academic programs; to stimulate high-quality research; and to develop strategic partnerships that help connect academia with the real world. We function based on the premise that technology, with ethics and human-centric designs, is the greatest enabler for solving real-world challenges.



Objectives of the department:

  • To offer and continuously refine industry-relevant, undergraduate programs (BSc IT, BSc Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics, and BSc Artificial & Data Science) that integrate core computing principles with applications in agricultural sciences and technology.
  • To proactively develop and launch new technologically advanced degree programs in Agri-Informatics, IoT for Smart Agriculture, Computational Sustainability that address emerging national and global needs.
  • To establish a vibrant research culture that prioritizes interdisciplinary collaboration with departments of Agriculture, Biosciences, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences.
  • To function as the university's hub for digital thought leadership, providing expertise on ICT strategy, digital tool adoption, and data governance.
  • To build and sustain strategic alliances with agri-tech industries, software developers focused on agriculture, cybersecurity firms, and research institutions.
