
Meet Doctor Esther N. Masvaya, our New PhD Graduate
Dr. Esther N. Masvaya is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences. She joined MUAST on the 1st of June 2019. Dr Masvaya recently graduated with a PhD in Farming Systems Agronomy with the Plant Production Systems Group of Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Her PhD research focused on investigating the potential of conservation agriculture and intercropping to contribute to sustainable intensification and climate smart agriculture. The work involved combining field trials with crop growth modelling. This culminated in a thesis entitled “Risk and crop production intensification options for semi-arid southern Zimbabwe”. She successfully defended her thesis on 27 May 2019 in Wageningen in the Netherlands.
